Last Friday, I was invited by Irene from Couture-Petite to The Body Shop’s special Seattle event at Pacific Place mall. I had a lot of fun meeting celebrity makeup artist Shalini Vadhera (check out her book Passport to Beauty: Secrets and Tips from Around the World for Becoming a Global Goddess) and being pampered by The Body Shop Team (if you’re in Seattle, holler at the amazing store manager Jonathan). There were so many new, fun products but it wasn’t all soaps and suds! Check out my fun day below:
The “Honey Bronze” Range
Before I sat down for my makeover, I got all of the insider’s scoop on the new “Honey Bronze“ line. It’s The Body Shop’s new natural-bronzing makeup collection made from honey. Yep, honey! Now we all know the great moisturizing and anti-bacterial benefits of honey, but what’s even better is that the collection’s made from “community fair trade” honey and beeswax. That means the ingredients come from and helps support small farmers. For example, the honey used in the “Honey Bronze” line comes from the Bales Mountain in Ethiopia. How awesome is that?
“Stop Trafficking of Children and Young People”
I also learned all about their “Stop Trafficking of Children and Young People” petition. Did you know that human trafficking (the illegal trade of humans for sex and labor) is the world’s third largest criminal industry (UNGIFT 2008)? In many parts of the world, young people are still being charged, prosecuted and incarcerated for prostitution, but the current laws doesn’t help eradicate human trafficking. We need to educate and support victims of human trafficking in order to alleviate the issue, and that can be done with a new law. But we need signatures to get it done so be sure to sign the petition!
“Honey Bronze” Makeovers
Thanks so much to Irene and The Body Shop Team for inviting me to this great Seattle event. What a fun makeover! I’m excited to try out the new “Honey Bronze” products like my sample of the moisturizing lip gloss in lip nectar. Oh yeah! I’m also proud to be raising awareness about human trafficking so please sign the ”Stop Trafficking of Children and Young People” petition.
More than just soaps and suds, I’ll be stopping in The Body Shop again. Tell me what’s your favorite item from The Body Shop with a comment below. =D
