Last week, I blogged about how to wear pleated skirts by showing six tops that go great with it (such as a boyish printed tee or an edgy lace top). Now that you know how to wear it, you’re probably dying to buy one or add another to your collection. (You can never have too many skirts!) Well I have some suggestions to help you get started on your search.
Stores are full of skirts that you don’t have to worry about your favorite selling out. However, pleated skirts come in a variety of styles, from box pleats to accordion pleats, that it can be overwhelming to choose from. Though I recommend the full-pleated skirt.
As the name suggests, it has a fuller, voluminous shape that drapes away from the body. Unlike other flowy skirts (typically made from stretchy fabric like rayon, polyester, or cotton jersey), most full pleated skirts are constructed from a woven fabric like woven cotton or linen which helps to keep its shape. The fullness is great because it helps to balance the shape of the body which creates an hourglass shape.
Below is a list of my picks for this summer:
1. Snakeskin Print
2. Buttoned High-Waist
3. Painted Print
4. Colored Stripes
5. Floral Lace-Up
6. Eyelet Linen
7. Color-Blocked Accordion
8. Paperbag-Waisted Chambray
These are my 8 picks for summer 2011′s full-pleated skirts. Every skirt has its own distinct detail that’s sure to strike your interest. If you want to buy any of them, just click on the pic. And don’t forget to tell me which of these skirts is your favorite. Go ahead and tell me with a comment below!
